Ashraf Elsharif, born in 1977 to the Elsharif art-loving nubian family in modern day Sudan, where the great Nile is formed by the confluence of the White and Blue Nile’s. Graduated university with information technology degree, since then worked for several institutions in the industry.

Ashraf has always practiced his art; his first art show was exhibited at Sudan College of Fine Arts in 1987 when he was ten years old. Many art shows followed afterwards. His art has always received recognition in competitions, workshops and shows.

Ashraf works with variety of media: acrylics and oil on canvas, watercolor and pencil on paper and also digital photography. His subjects include landscapes, portraits, and historical scenes.

Ashraf get his inspiration from the great, ancient Nubian civilization which once dominated the Nile Valley and the surrounding African Sahara – Sudan, South Sudan and Egypt – with its fascinating legends of queens, kings, and architectural buildings and motifs. The rich folklore stories and myths of the Nilotic tribes are another present subject in his work. Because this rich heritage only known to a few, Ashraf decided to show it to the world through his art.
